Bristlenose-The Value Of Driftwood And Plants

An excellent option is to add a piece of driftwood to the tank. Driftwood is ideal for promoting algae growth, and it quickly becomes covered in it.

Your Bristlenose Plecos will consume the algae directly from the wood. As they do this, they also ingest plenty of fibrous material, which is beneficial for their health.

If there are live plants in their habitat (such as hornwort or Java moss), they might attach to the leaves to feed on the algae. Typically, the Plecos won't eat the plants. If they do, it indicates that they aren't receiving enough food, so you might want to increase their feeding frequency slightly.
