Compared to many other popular tank residents, this is a notably long lifespan. In fact, the longevity of the Bristlenose Pleco is one of the main reasons why many enthusiasts are drawn to this fish, based on our experience.


The average lifespan of a Bristlenose Pleco is at least five years, though there are cases where this fish has lived up to 12 years in captivity!
